Pittrice e scrittrice inglese, sorella di Lucy e di Caroline Adams, Charlotte viene battezzata nel 1790. Le tre sorelle sono figlie di George Adams, chirurgo e speziale di Billericay (Essex) e della moglie Anne.

Charlotte si specializza nelle vedute ad acquerello dell’Essex e del Middlesex. Attiva a Billericay, è presente alle mostre di Londra. Qui tra il 1829 e il 1843 espone dieci paesaggi alla Royal Academy (dove è menzionata come “honorary exhibitor”) e otto alla Society of British Artists. Nel 1839 è candidata insieme alla sorella Lucy alla New Watercolour Society.

Poiché Charlotte e Lucy sono presentate alle esposizioni londinesi come nubili (“Miss”) è possibile che una o entrambe corrispondano alle “Miss Lucy” presenti come artiste nel 1814 (richiesta di essere ammessa a disegnare le opere antiche al British Museum), nel 1819 (medaglia d’argento per una pittura a olio alla Society of Arts) e nel 1828 (esposizione della Society of British Artists).

Oltre all’attività pittorica, Charlotte si dedica alla scrittura: tra il 1836 e il 1866 scrive Improving Literature.

A fine 1845 è con Lucy tra gli eredi del padre George.

Un dipinto firmato “C. Adams” avente come soggetto Sir Stamford Raffles and his Party Crossing the River Chidami near Buitenzorg, Java e pubblicato come foglio ad acquatinta nell’opera di Lady Raffles, “Memoirs”, del 1830 (a fronte di p. 225) è passato a un’asta Christie’s il 14 ottobre 1977.
