Pittrice e grafica britannica, Harriet (o Harriot) nasce nel. 1787 circa.

Esegue soprattutto dipinti con paesaggi a olio e acquerello.

I suoi soggetti sono l’Inghilterra e il Galles, raramente l’Italia (per esempio il Ponte presso Subiaco, esposto nel 1841 alla Royal Academy).

Sono note anche quattro acquaforti (1819) e quattro litografie (1824), sempre con motivi di paesaggio.

Esegue anche rari ritratti, come il Portrait of a Young Lady esposto alla Royal Academy nel 1832 e scene con figure, per esempio dal “Don Quixote”.

Tra il 1807 e il 1854 espone alla Royal Academy e tra il 1809 e il 1855 alla British Institution. Durante le esposizioni come luogo di produzione dei suoi pezzi è indicata Londra.

Dal 1813 è membro della Water Colour Society. Dal 1820 (cfr. Thieme-Becker) espone alla Old (and New) Water Colour Society.

Tra il 1824 e il 1836 espone alla Society of British Artists, dove fino al 1843 è riconosciuta membro onorario.

Fino al 1839 compare come Gouldsmith, poi nel 1839 sposa il Capitano Arnold e ne assume il cognome.

Muore il 6 gennaio 1863.
