On 17 and 18 November 2025, the AMIGOS European project held its online consortium meeting, bringing together pilot cities and technical partners to share updates on ongoing activities and the progress of innovative solutions aimed at improving the safety and accessibility of outdoor routes. During the meeting, each city presented the work carried out over the past six months, highlighting challenges, achievements, and support needs for the next phases of the project.
Among the core topics discussed, significant attention was devoted to the impact monitoring of the implemented solutions, with presentations on the status of the activities and the upcoming steps for data collection and for assessing short-, medium- and long-term effects.
The Metropolitan City of Bologna presented progress related to its pilot action, focusing on improving the information concerning the safety and accessibility of trails in the Piccola Cassia and Via Mater Dei area.
Thanks to the AMIGOS project, 15 new accessible itineraries have been made available, with information on technical features, points of interest, surface types, accessibility via public transport, and inclusive accommodation options. Another key achievement is the training programme for tourism operators, held from 6 to 9 November 2025, which involved 32 participants, including tourism professionals, institutional staff, and operators working along the routes. The training combined theoretical sessions with an experiential hike alongside people with visual impairments, allowing participants to explore key topics such as inclusive storytelling, safe guiding strategies, and good practices to make natural and tourism services more accessible.
The meeting represented an important opportunity for exchange with the other pilot cities and technical partners, supporting the continuation of the monitoring, evaluation, and further enhancement of the solutions, based on the feedback collected from users and local stakeholders.
