The carbon footprint is a tool used to measure the amount of CO2 and other greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere—key contributors to climate change and global warming. In line with the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 and transitioning fully towards a climate-neutral society, the Interreg Euro-MED programme is committed to promoting rigorous measures aimed at reducing and offsetting emissions. This includes the establishment of a clear framework for emission monitoring and the implementation of mitigation actions across all approved projects, including Cool Noons.
The Metropolitan City of Bologna leads this essential activity, which ensures that Cool Noons is fully aligned with the mission of Sustainable Tourism. While the project seeks to address the challenges posed by global warming and heatwaves through innovative solutions, its strength also lies in the shared awareness among all partners of the environmental impact of their actions.
Throughout 2024, Cool Noons generated a total of 8,947 kg of CO2, primarily due to travel and office-related activities. Although these aspects cannot be entirely eliminated, the Metropolitan City of Bologna has provided valuable guidelines for adopting a responsible and sustainable approach to in-person meetings and events. These best practices are designed to be easily embraced by all partners and projects within the Euro-MED programme.
