On 6 November 2025, during the Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona, the Interreg Euro-MED Innovative Sustainable Economy Mission will host the second edition of the MED Innovation Summit, a key event dedicated to circular innovation and sustainable governance.

This year’s Summit will focus on the textile sector, one of Europe’s most resource-intensive industries yet among the most promising for sustainable innovation. Every year, Europeans discard around five million tonnes of clothing and footwear, with only one per cent recycled into new garments. The Summit will showcase how Mediterranean changemakers are rethinking production, recycling, and governance to make sustainability the new norm.

During the event, several projects will take center stage, presenting concrete solutions to accelerate the circular transition and promote innovative resource management: VerdeInMED, ProcuraMED, 2B-BLUE, and REPper, presented by the Metropolitan City of Bologna.
