On May 21st and 22nd 2025, the fifth interregional meeting of the Microfuture project was held in Kamnik, Slovenia. The goal of the project is to improve public policies related to microfinance in the participating regions by sharing good practices.

On the first day, all project partners shared their “checklist” to monitor the progress of policy improvements. They presented results and gave recommendations for further policy development.

The partner advisor, Fondazione Yunus, introduced the concept of SROI (Social Return on Investment), an innovative method that measures the social, environmental, and economic value created by social organizations. An important moment was the speech by Petra Kovačec, a representative from Slovenia’s Ministry of Economy, Tourism, and Sport. She presented current funding opportunities for social enterprises and shared updates on Slovenia's social entrepreneurship laws, giving useful insights into the national support system for the sector.

On the second day, participants visited local social enterprises. The first visit was to KNOF, a group of social businesses in Krško. They run a second-hand clothing boutique, a furniture showroom with refurbished items, and a circular lab developing sustainable innovations—such as soundproof walls made from recycled materials.

Then they visited the ETRI Group in Ljubljana, which works to create an inclusive society by offering job opportunities for everyone.

The meeting was very inspiring for all participants, giving them new knowledge and ideas to support microfinance policies and practices in their own regions.
