MICROFUTURE: European exchange on microfinance and social inclusion in Iași

On 2–3 December 2025, the Metropolitan City of Bologna – European Projects Office took part in the 6th Interregional Event of the MICROFUTURE project (Future proof microfinance for social inclusion), held in Iași, Romania.

The event brought together project partners and local stakeholders to explore microfinance tools, social enterprise models and public policies supporting social inclusion, through a programme combining interregional working sessions and on-site visits.

The first day took place at ADV Romania (Alături de Voi Romania), starting with a welcome at OPYA Coffee Roastery, a social enterprise producing high-quality coffee while employing people from vulnerable groups. This was followed by a presentation of the ADV group and its contribution to the development of the social economy through foundations, social enterprises and dedicated financial instruments

Participants then visited several ADV entities, including Alături de Voi Romania Foundation, UtilDeco (authorised sheltered unit), JobDirect, WISE.travel, as well as SFA – Social Finance Association and AFIN IFN (Non-Banking Financial Institution for social economy financing), gaining insights into organisational models, financial tools and support services for social enterprises.

The afternoon was dedicated to project activities focusing on stakeholder involvement, presentation of partners’ policy changes and action plans, and social impact monitoring, with discussions on evaluation methods and indicators.

On the second day, participants visited additional social enterprises in Iaș. The Iași event provided concrete insights into microfinance and social enterprise practices and strengthened cooperation among European territories.
