A research on the production area of Ponte Rizzoli

Una ricerca sull'area produttiva di Ponte Rizzoli

The research was carried out with the collaboration of ITL (Transport and Logistics Institute of the Emilia-Romagna Region) and DIEM (Department of Engineering of the aeronautical nuclear mechanical and metallurgical constructions of the University of Bologna). Starting from an analysis of the logistic flows of the existing Ponte Rizzoli production area and carrying out a survey on the logistic flows of the companies that will be based in the production center, a possible range of services and infrastructures to support the logistics of the area has been supposed.

The report concludes with the design of a virtual infrastructure to support transport optimization, also based on the positive results that emerged from similar experiences in the region. The work, in line with the guidelines of the PRIT98-2010, had the objective of identifying areas of intervention and operating methods able to pursue:
- the minimization of logistical operations’ impact on local traffic and therefore the reduction of social costs and impact on the environment, health and safety;
- the valorization of the goods through logistic operations carried out at the minimum cost and with the maximum effectiveness of the service, especially in terms of reducing the total time of door-to-door transport.
